I wouldnt take that approach.

I would say "im after a touch up paint, ive got the part number, its: M7 blah blah"

and while he is punching the part number up on his computer, just say "I was quoted X amount for that part, does that sound about right?"

If he says "who quoted you that price?"

you can say "Another Ford dealership in the ACT. This is the recommended retail price I was quoted"

Never go in saying "I want this part, and I want it at this price"

That's right I hate that!

Unfortunately recommended retail price is just that, recommended, they can charge more if they want to. And unless there's another Ford dealer 2 minutes away your better off just paying the extra compared to what it's going to cost you to go and get it somewhere else. Where I live I am paying over retail, by quite a bit for my Meguiars products, it's either that or spend $30 on fuel and 3 hours of my time driving to Melbourne trying to save the money I just spent getting there.

Sometimes it's just easier to pay a bit more.

BTW, was just browsing through the colour code's, there are some strange colours coming out! I certainly havent seem any!

Offshore is the Paler Blue on the Fairmont Ghia I've been given to drive around in while my car is off on its adventure.

Not a Bad luxury car colour IMHO.

will take on that aproach you mentioned. I had no intention of approaching the situation the way it sounded when I responded earlier.

The way you explained was pretty much the way I was going to do it. I do appreciate you looking up the part number though as it will help when purchasing, and sound like I knew what I was on about.
