Hey Fellow T's,

How do you remove melted rocker cover gasket. The rest was melted and brittle and when removed took half the red paint off but is finally out. The 2 hour gasket job is in its 2nd day. Cheers.

Scrape out what you can with a flat head screw driver then use a wire wheel in a drill to finish cleaning it out. When you fit the new gasket don't cover it in silicone like it has been in your picture, it isn't necessary. You put a couple of dabs of silicone where the head and timing cover meet to stop any leaks, there is a spot on the rocker cover gasket that lines up with it.

Thanks mate. Been scraping for hours. I'd say the previous mechanic siliconed it all up before I bought it to pass the Safety Certificate. I'm using Brake Cleaner but it's not working. I'll keep scraping.

Don't waste too much time with the screwdriver, just get what you can then finish it with a wire wheel. The wire wheel will rip through it fairly quickly.
