hey everyone, new to this site.

Sorry if this has been covered before but I couldnt find any leads on it.

I have an xr6 turbo motor and 6sp manual complete for transplant into a BF wagon and I was just wondering if there's a way I can tell if it is a BAII or a BF motor?

Motor and box came out of the same car but im not sure which one. Is there engine numbers that I can check or a build date or something?

cheers

Just go by the engine number and check with Ford when it was built. The number is on the exhaust side near the bellhousing connection.

thanks guys I will have a look and send the numbers in to find out when it was built.

Was the ba mkII motor any different to the mk1 or did they only change the build and quality in the BF's?

nope, the exhaust manifold for BA/BF are the same but FG changes a bit in shape to suit the smaller turbocharger and slightly different position for the piping for the turbocharger.

would the face of it be the same as in it would bolt up to the block with no issues?

reason im asking is I also have a fg turbo block with no manifold or turbo and ive found plenty of cheap ba/bf inc turbo
