Picked up a stock 2008 FG XR6T with 93xxx km on the odo last week and it's been a pleasure to drive so far! Although having driven it for ~500km I've picked up on a few possible issues that I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on.

Issue #1: When approaching a stop there's a slight 'jolt/clunk' which can only be felt when behind the wheel, not as passenger. This seems to happen 70% of the time right before coming to a stop (~5kmh)

Issue #2: When at 80-90% turning lock, theres a slight (grinding/shudder?) feeling, seems to happen 50% of the time.

The vehicle itself has been looked after exceptionally well by a mature owner with full service history and with no modifications. If anyone has experienced similar issues it would be greatly appreciated if you could contribute.

Many thanks

Issue #1 - I'm assuming your car is an auto. The slight jolt you feel is the transmission dropping gears from 2nd to 1st. It's normal. Mine does it too. Some people have had this fixed by servicing their gearbox.

Issue #2 - No idea. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Sorry forgot to mention it's an auto. Yep, I can confirm that the slight 'jolt' is when dropping from 2nd to 1st, may look to get the transmission serviced in the next few weeks

Read on here somewhere that the trans "learns" how you drive and there is a way to reset that memory. Think it was disconnect the battery? Or it could be the dreaded "milkshake" issue slowly coming through also documented on here. Either way a trans service should make it feel better.... Hopefully:) as for the turning noise I believe it's normal, mine does it when parking in tight spots, think it's the camber of the tire at full lock rubbing. Have a look under there and have a look to see what might be rubbing or warn. Might be a ball joint/tierod in the steering system need attention.

thanks for the replies. I'll look at getting the transmission serviced and an aftermarket trans cooler installed while I'm at it. hopefully see some difference with the downward gear changes.
