Mobile Phone Charger Problem

My mobile phone charger refuses to charge my phone in the car for more than about 5 secs. I bought a new charger and after chucking the old one away found out the new one was no better. I tried the charger in another XR6T and same result. The phone charges OK at home on the 240V mains but won't in the car. Anybody else had this problem?

I find that my car charger keeps slipping out slightly but enough to lose contact with the centre terminal..

I'm running a cig lighter, phone charger and a power converter all off the one lead no problem.

If you have a good look at the socket in your vehicle you will find it is actually a power socket and doesnt actually have the retaining tangs inside it that an ordinary lighter socket has.

Hmmmmmmm...thanks for the feedback guys. The phone plug seems to fit pretty snugly in the socket , so much in fact that I nearly end up pulling half the dash out when I go to remove it. I'll get the Ford service mob to sus it out next time the car goes for a service.
