I have a mk11 ba typhoon with pbr brakes. Got the dreaded shudder with all the usual symptoms. Turns out its the booster that's failed and does not release properly. Get it fixed by Ford and all is good.

They told me that Ford head office has told them not to adjust the rod it does not fix the problem. Before anyone says that they are trying to make money I got it fixed under the extended warranty I bought. Costs about 360 bucks plus labour so should be cheaper non genuine.

Typhoon233, was shudder under braking or no braking?

Interested to see if shudder returns after 20 000km of driving?

It was both.

Intermittent on highway after a semi long run. And normal braking.

So am I will see what happens.

Ford were adamant that the boosters are pretty much sh*t and replacing fixes the problem.

Absolutely spot on Typhoon. I been trying to track my issue for little while. Today replaced booster seems very good now.

My issue was booster not always fully returning, occasionally brake lights stick on. Been down the adjustment track also but previous owner had been at it but still wasn't right.

Best way I found it is to apply and release brake. Kneel down and feel the rubber boot at the booster under the dash. Pull back on the pedal and can feel it is tight. Most times it released enough to not be an issue. That occasional time it stuck more.
