a mate of mine has an xr6 and just lately we have noticed an intermitent buzzing sound coming from the dash somewhere.Like I said it dosnt do it all the time, sounds kinda like a mozzie on the juice, does it at various speeds and with the sounds on and off.Any one have any clues where to start looking-I know if he takes it to the workshop he could drive around all day with the mechanic and it would not do it :censored::ta:

Yep, I got that. Starts somewhere b/w 120 and 130 km/h, and is fairly constant once you get over 140 km/h. Got no idea what it is, but would like to know :censored:.

Most of these are caused by misaligned windscreens, in that they are fitted slightly high at the top. My Xr6 had exactly the same symptons and it was cured by the dealer removing and refitting the windscreen.

Ditto.

Dealer subcontacted to Windscreen's O'Brien no questions asked. Original noise would set in at speeds as low as 100km/h (depending on atmospherics of the day). Now Ok upto 185 km/h (haven't tried it any faster). I think that this is a reasonably common factory installed fault. On the day I put mine in, there was also a ute in for the same thing.

Off to the Dealer you go.................

My windscreen (at least that's what I think it is!) emits a very loud whistling noise but usually not until about 180km/h (travelling on a racetrack in NT of course  ).
