Check safety Cam logs from RTA/RMS. Especially if its a b-double or any regulated heavy vehicle.

You could have got on to main Roads (Road Teck) after checking the area out again to see if there are any CCTV cameras in the area or before or after the area and asked to see footage from that time on that day. if the nearest CCTV camera is 5 KM away just drive to check how long in time it is away and get the footage 15min each way. You know what the truck looked like and you might be able to get the plate or just the company name on the truck then chase up with police to do the rest. They can also enhance CCTV footage.

That truck would of had your paint on it for proof.
