I think ive isolated an anoying rattle (only audible from inside, on slightly bumpy roards) to loose pads in the calipers. The noise doesnt occur when on brakes. You can move the pads by hand. I had a mate do this while I sat inside and it sounds like this is the culprit. So what can I do? I know there are no shims, so I assume that's a start. What aboout the clips? where can I get new ones, or can I bend them to give more tension etc

Yeah I have the shims on the FG and there is no rattle...they stick to the pad backing plate, so its easy to forget to put them on the new pad, and just throw them out with the old pad.

Im not sure where you would get them though, but this will solve your rattling issue.
