Our first marked XR6 Turbo was auctioned off in Brisbane the other day. 50,000 odd k's on it. It went for $1500 more than the service paid for it.

I dont know the figure but was in the $30's.

These things are in demand!!!!!!!! :spit:

Buying a government pricing helps.

The gov't price on mine was 38,060 on the road. As opposed to 46,800 for a private purchaser. You can be sure when we turn mine over though (15000klm) it will still be a baby.

These discounts show how important this government market is to Ford. (and Expensive Daewoo and Toyota and Mitsubishi.......)

True indeed although I hope the average punter doesn't feel ripped off by seeing what the government price is.

Aahhhhhhh. With leather, momo wheel & gearchange, window tint, etc plus stamp duty and on roads, mine ran out to $56000 drive away($8000 worth of stamp duty and Tax). I got it in June as somebody elses drop out pre order instead of waiting til dec 03 for the one I ordered. The dealer had a lineup of 8 people waiting to pounce on it, me with first option, wouldn't even give me free headlight protectors. Gave me a fantastic deal on a GT-P though (Lightening Strike due end Feb04). :hrmm::hrmm:

I have done, and still do purchase new government vehicles.

I currently have a red XR6T on order for late January delivery. After 15000km or 9 months it will be purchased for $4000 above what was paid for it.........That's pretty damm good!!

I don't understand why the police need a new car every 50 000km's or as soon as a new series comes out. Could anybody explain this? The only reason that comes to mind is the govt trying to support the local car industry. Has anyone seen the european cop cars? They race around in VW/Alfas/Vauxhall Astras etc not AMG E55's or M5's etc..

Police departments are no different to other government departments, they get new cars so as to limit the losses they would sustain if they were to keep them longer and the car devalued further. Thus saving the tax payer money in replacement/upgrade costs.

Yes it does support the local car industry, and that is why there is a strong push for Australian built cars. You wont see European cars for that reason, and the fact that they dont get any where near the tax breaks that the goverment get on Australian built product (example no import duty!)

Make sense?
