November 1, 201213 yr #1 I own a fg xr6 turbo manual ute. Since I owned it, it has made tghis usuall knocking sound when I change gears, slow down, reverse and at various random times at first I thought it may be the gear box or clutch ive taken it to ford they said its the characteristic of the gear box. I blew the tailshaft earlier in the year got it fixed under warranty it stopped for a while but its back. So I still think its the tailshaft but I could be wrong... Has anyone got the same problem or can someone tell me what the problem is cheers:)
November 1, 201213 yr #2 If the knocking sound only occurs when on/off the clutch or throttle then it's normal mate. You can get it fixed but it will just happen again. You can learn to drive around it.
November 3, 201213 yr #3 it prob will be the centre bearing/cv in the alloy tailshaft or the diff bushes - I'm getting quotes of $3,000 to fix both - how many km and how hard has it been driven - is it manual as my 6 speed makes a soft clunk when engaging gears.
