I think it is a good opportunity to say how much we (speaking on behalf of others here) appreciate the commentary from the boys in blue. I know I always take something away from their posts, so please keep it up...and thanks for answering my q's guys!!!

Plonky, my 'mate' always felt that his 96 in a 60 zone incident was proof positive of a quota system.

As the officer left he said "expect to receive a ticket in the mail"

Because he had been watching for many k's seen that 'mate' was not a rat bag, and was generally law abiding, also had a plausible valid excuse. But he had the dirt on him. He went off toward the freeway on his shift, if he caught enough other 'ratbag' offenders to meet his quota 'mate' would be ok, otherwise ... expect a ticket in the mail.

Now it was perhaps due to the circumstances, of 'mate' answering questions and subconsiously followed mickq's method of not incriminating ones self. As well as not being close enough to accurately record his speed, but 96 was a very specific number. Does the number of cars between radar and offender have an adverse effect on accuracy?

If you say no quota, then I am almost inclined to believe you, you do like the Cult after all, but that watch obsession has me concerned, and you do have a silver car.......hmmm not looking good.

Turbo6 I wasn;t aware of that (quota in Qld)

Oh well, Beasties Labor Govt strikes again

Mate, you got that right about Beattie....

It would be a revelation if the quota was taken away. It would actually allow cops to have discretion. IMHO, doing 50 in a 40 school zone should be given a whopping ticket and fine, no questions asked.

The same 25% increase in speed in a 110 zone would be 137km/hr. Doing that on the way down to the Gold Coast on the four lane motorway in a new turbo is in no way the same risk in my opinion.

I do wish that they had power of discretion instead of quotas and the mentality speed kills.

Okay, off my soap box and end of my 2c.

No quota's is very hard to believe when the operation of camera's is out sourced in a number of states

Mmmmh how do the bean counters measure that an outsourcer is doing the job they are contracted for ???? Oh lets make it easy and find a stat that shows they are doing their job ??????

Maybe the uniform guys dont have a quota but ??????

As the grey hairs quickly multiply and police officers start to look too young to be shaving yet I have less and less to do with them, which is a good thing.

I daily drive Canberra/Goulburn and even at 6 in the morning, no traffic, big safe straight roads I cruise control at the limit +5 to 8%because of the risk of a fine.

This restriction in itself manifests a resentment for the blueys that we all may know is wrong, but we really can't help feeling it.

If only you blokes would stay in the office with your donuts untill about 7.30 in the morning and then head down to the school zones and the suburban streets, commuting would be such fun then.
