Has anybody put either the Herrod or other short shift on their XR6t manual.

The shift on the XR6t manual is a little notchy (in reality its absolutely stuffed but im trying to be as positive as possible)

Any reviews would be nice.

Edit: :banghead:

Shorter shifter will only make notchiness worse. T already has factory short shift, anything shorter than the 110mm it now is will generally end up feeling clunky to the average user. Remember, there is no magic, as the lever /throw shortens, the shift effort will go up.

Thanks for the response. I was told that the shift will improve as I get more kms on the clock.

Does anyone know why 2nd to 3rd is so damn hard. You either got to be extremely heavy handed or pause in the neutral position to get it right. The same goes when shifting back from 5th to 3rd.

I love 5th down to 4th...it isn't down, left, down like all my previous cars...it is diagonal down, so easy...so effortless.

can't comment on herrod option though...let us know what you think if you invest in one londas.

I have had the herrod sure shift in my T for around 3 months now and all I can say is FORD should have it as standard equip. I find the notchy feeling that the box has is reduced to a much cleaner feeling shift, the shorter throw is an added benefit. My wife even prefers it?? Definately worth the $$

I do not think the shift is significantly quicker, but I do not know the times for before and after. I can say that the problem I had with the 2 to 3 change no longer exists. For me the biggest benefit was that it made the shift feel alot smoother. If you are considering it I would suggest you go to a Herrod dealer and get a drive of a car with it fitted.

londas,

Here's the link to the previous discussion on this topic.

It seems that every 3 months or so we revisit old topics.

A topic index would be a good idea. I now store some of the main thread links in a word document for quick reference.
