Cam Timing.

Wanting to check the cam timing anyone know the procedure. so far with the engine on TDC there are 2 dots on both cam gears and they are at 12 oclock position.

To line up the marks on the timing chain with the marks on the crank and cam gears you need to rotate the engine up to 40 times or take the chain off and line up the orange link with the slot on the inner edge of the crank gear and the two yellow links with the dots on the cam gears

Well, unless you know exactly what you are doing, removing the chain is a poor suggestion........

Whatever you do, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CRANK THE ENGINE WITH THE CHAIN OFF or you will bend your valves as some of these will be left open and the piston will hit them :f*ckyou:

The suggested action should only be undertaken with GREAT CARE, and then only by cranking very carefully by hand, turning the camshafts every time a piston touches the valves

Better to remove the spark plugs and valve cover and then use the starter motor to crank while watching the marks on the cam sprockets, and once alignment is seen, stop cranking and fine adjust by hand

As long as your at TDC and the two cam marks are at 12 o'clock your all good. The coloured chain links are only for inital set up and don't matter in your case.

LOL never turn an engine without a timing belt/chain on it re read the post youl see an OR in there
