It's happened to me too, No biggie, Ford came out and fixed it the next day.

 Roll on the series 2, then all the bugs should be well and truly gone. Amazing how such small things can cause such a big panic, seems they always appear much worse than they are ;)

Mick,

You mention that the outlet of the turbo has poped off,  isn't this the

tube that leads to the exhaust, therefore diminishing the backpressure ?

Daniel

No, the pipe coming off the front of the turbo (that you can see from the front of the car with the bonnet open) is the air outlet from the turbo...ie its "fresh" intake air that the turbo has just compressed, and is sending up that pipe to the intake manifold where its shoved into the cyliners and mixed with fuel.

The part of the system involving the exhaust is at the back of the turbo, and not really visible without taking that big silver heat shield off. that's where it comes out of the engine, into the back part of the turbo where it spins the turbine blades at warp speed before continuing out the exhuast pipe and out the back of the car.

That part I havent managed to blow off. Yet.

JUst dont let dirt get in there as it doesnt agree with bearings that well. just recently did the variety bash and the channel 7 bravo turbo pipe blew off due to a clogged air filter. Had no way of cleaning it so a bit of bush mech. Reversed the hoses so the turbo blew air into the cleaner forcing all the gunk out. It was like a ryobi vac blower.

Not my car too so experimenting is more comforting then. (dont modify that you pack of mongrels)
