Aftermarket Bonnets

Hi all id just like to share a quick few shots for the people who where interested in the aftermarket xr8 bonnets.

The fit on it was quite bad to begin with once painted and gapped by the panel beater was fine and you would struggle to get a genuine one any better, he commented that underneath etc looked pretty similiar to the genuine ford ones.

  • Yep, im a panel beater by trade (left the job long ago) and I can also vouch for genuine fitment over aftermarket. By the time you finish fart assing about with the aftermarket one, start having hassl

Hi no mine doesn't vibrate in the first picture you can see a rubber strip fitted a mate had problems on his fg when this rubber strip wasnt fitted with vibration etc you could also try adjusting the black bump stops if its not in contact with them could also cause problems.

cheers forgot to fit the bump stops :) I unpacked it and bolted it on maybe that's why

Sorry about the dumb question but what is gapped!

Gapped just means panel gaps asin the distance between the bonnet and the guard the like 20mm gap etc

The rubber at the front is from the standard bonnet yes, I didnt put the under bonnet felt stuff back on just painted underneath aswell I dont think it would fit as the standard xr6 one is flat wheres as this has the hump, or if it did would look quite bad lol just get it painted the spray painter didnt think heat would be an issue and I didnt want it on anyway so was an easy decision.
