Hi All,

I've just recently got an FPV F6 with 18" genuine wheels on it, when I picked the car up from the garage I bought it from, after driving for a short distance I noticed that it tracked to the left a lot more than most cars that I've driven.

I took the car back to the dealers and told them off the issues, and they said they would sort it out.

they are not a ford dealership, (Expensive Daewoo and nissan) and the mechanic said that he'd not done one before, but it was a computerised wheels alignment set up that he was using.

anyway, I have picked the car up, and it's still pulling to the left when you take your hands off the steering wheel. I am aware that the camber of most roads will make a car pull to the left, but this is definately more than just the camber of the road.

He said that it's set up to within the manufacturers limits, and I'm yet to speak with them about it..

do you think I should go to another garage and get a second opinion, or could it be something else that is causing the problem.? the car has 4 new tyres on it, so they can't be an issue I don't think..

any ideas?

If you tell us where you are based someone will give you a heads up on who is good to check your wheel alignment. Worth spending the dollars on a decent alignment as it is far cheaper than replacing four tyres once it is too late.

had a similar issue when bought my phoon, couldn't get the alignment spot on.tyres were good no suspension probs it turned out to be that when new tyres were fitted before I got the car it had 1 of the "rear" wheels on the front.as they have a staggered offset on the BA's. what model phoon have you got?? maybe check the wheels?from memory the fronts have +18.5 offset and the rears are +35 offset.

it's a 2006 mkII BF I think.??

that could be an easy fix then, but it'll have to be re-aligned again once they have been swapped over to find out I suppose, do I have to take the wheels off to check?

or could I maybe notice just by looking down the side of the car?

nah,you have to take the wheels off and on the inside of the wheels it will have stamped "rear use only"

Sorry if this is a little off topic, but whats the best camber settings for say a street alignment for these cars??

Don't want a track setup as the tyres will be routed on the inside pretty quickly but a compromise of handling and wear and tear would be good if people have played with this.
