  1. Hi all, I’m about to upgrade the engine on my car, currently running a BA Barra with a T5, and I have sourced an XR6T engine, and a T56 Gearbox from two different vehicles (both Barra’s). I wanted to know if anyone has any advice on doing this engine and gearbox swap and what I will need to do for the ECU and wiring to work as it should? I have the ECU from the Turbo car and took out the complete engine, so it still has all wiring attached as stock. I see I can buy a stand alone wiring kit and ECU flashing for $800.00 can I do it for cheaper? At this stage I’d be happy getting it installed and then on the rollers to get a decent tune on it, I’m not going for max power as the car will be used for endurance racing, so a good power output with reliability is the key. Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers.
  2. Hi all, I’ve currently got an XR6 2003 which we are doing endurance racing with.... after the first race, we blew the diff... common problem apparently... anyway, I have since sourced an Auto XR6T 2004, which I want to remove the whole rear cradle and install into the XR6, which is manual. Has anyone done this? The tail shaft is likely to be different lengths being manual v auto, so will it work if I take the front from the manual, and cross at the centre bearing to the auto rear part of the tail shaft? also, I’ve got the parts for fitting an oil cooler, has anyone else done this? Any tips on doing the install? Thanks.
  3. thanks for that worm. I'll call them now and get it sorted out. cheers.
  4. Hi all, I've recently bought a 2006 FPV F6 Typhoon and there's been a vibration coming through the car, anyway, the garage have offered me either 2 new alloys genuine, or a set of replacement aftermarket wheels and tyres. so, I've opted for the aftermarket wheels, the versus wraith carbon's in a 20". I wanted to know what size wheels and tyres I should get on it without rolling the arches... I've read up on here that ideally you should get the arches rolled and get a larger tyre, but I'd rather keep it standard at the moment. am I right in thinking that it's a 245/35/20 on the rear, and a 245/30/20 on the front? I've gotta speak to them tomorrow about what I want to do, so I can get them this week. any advice would be good. cheers.
  5. no news as yet, wrote a stinking letter of complaint to the garage that I bought the car from, so waiting to hear back from them about what they intend to do first, then I'll get it sorted out from there. funny though, when the mechanic had finished doing the alignment there, he said, "yeah, it's within the tolerances of what ford state"... does that mean that it still pulls to the left out the factory? I'll give them till tomorrow to come back to me as that will be a week since I wrote to the dealer principal, so lets see if they can actually do something right for a change..
  6. I'll whip the front's off tomorrow and have a look. cheers. do you know of anywhere nearby that can check it over? cheers.
  7. it's a 2006 mkII BF I think.?? that could be an easy fix then, but it'll have to be re-aligned again once they have been swapped over to find out I suppose, do I have to take the wheels off to check? or could I maybe notice just by looking down the side of the car?
  8. I'm based in brisbane, live at southbank, work on the southside, so anywhere within 30kms is good I reckon..
  9. Hi All, I've just recently got an FPV F6 with 18" genuine wheels on it, when I picked the car up from the garage I bought it from, after driving for a short distance I noticed that it tracked to the left a lot more than most cars that I've driven. I took the car back to the dealers and told them off the issues, and they said they would sort it out. they are not a ford dealership, (Expensive Daewoo and nissan) and the mechanic said that he'd not done one before, but it was a computerised wheels alignment set up that he was using. anyway, I have picked the car up, and it's still pulling to the left when you take your hands off the steering wheel. I am aware that the camber of most roads will make a car pull to the left, but this is definately more than just the camber of the road. He said that it's set up to within the manufacturers limits, and I'm yet to speak with them about it.. do you think I should go to another garage and get a second opinion, or could it be something else that is causing the problem.? the car has 4 new tyres on it, so they can't be an issue I don't think.. any ideas?
  10. thanks for the info, I haven't bought the parrot yet, just saw it and thought that it would be good with it's ipod compatibility, but since I've been to a local installer and they wanted to charge $180 for the installation of the unit, on top of the $449 for the unit, so looking at it, does it make more sense to put a second stereo unit into the car with a bluetooth connectivity as I'd seen an alpine head unit with Blue Tooth for $300, and the same installation cost.?? I do have other speakers that I would ideally like to upgrade on the car, but I've been reading on here that the car need dynomatting as well as the panels will vibrate pretty bad, so I'm asking myself if I want to go to all that trouble on a car that I'm only planning on keeping for the next 15 months till I can upgrade to the 310.. what's the cheapest way of getting bluetooth into the car? maybe I can just manage without the Ipod connection? cheers.
  11. Hi all, I'm wanting to get a bluetooth car kit installed in my car, FPV F6 Typhoon, 2006 with Premium sound package, and when I went into autobarn at the weekend they said that the car doesn't have Iso connections, so I can't just plug and play with the Parrot, it has to be hardwired. the Parrot that I want to use also has the ipod connection, so I can play music with it, hence my reason to get this one. does anyone have any experience with this at all? is that right, and will it work through the stereo as I want it to do? or do I have to look at other options? any advice would be great, thanks.
  12. thanks for the info, I'll get in touch with them and see what works best to get the remap done. I'm happy enough with the car, but a remap would be a good think I reckon. cheers.
  13. Hi All, I'm new to the forum, and also to the world of FPV, later today I'm picking up a 2006 F6 Typhoon that's completely stock. I've had a good read through what people suggest as good upgrades for the car and I'm not going to go mental with it to start with, so a flashtune and dyno would be a good starting point for me. can someone suggest a good garage in the Brisbane region that has first hand experience and isn't going to take the piss out of me when I rock up for the first time.. also, I'm wanting to upgrade the stereo, I do see that the standard stereo is a bitch to change to a normal din sized one unless it goes into the centre console box, but I want to know if there is actually any pre-out's on the stock stereo that I can plumb by sub amplifier into at all? any help would be great and I look forward to hearing from you. cheers.
