So the wifes car is a BA XT

She likes it and doesnt really want to get rid of it.. 220000kms

Drivetrain is all good, tailshaft is full reco, bodywork is fine..

The suspension rattles and knocks and I think the diff bush is on its way out.

I am tossing up buying a cheap fg, or repairing the ba..

thinking 30-50% stiffer springs @ standard height (sh*t roads out here), replace all bushes with nolathane and some decent shocks. Then find a good 2nd hand turbo, manifold, cooler, pipes, etc and installing it all myself (fairly confident I can do it no probs.. then a quick tune. Keeping it at around 6-7 psi. expecting somewhere around $6-7k.. which is about what I would spend upgrading to fg.. which I would probably still want to turbo ;)

thoughts??

true.. but the xr's are way too low for the roads around here, people are getting good results from low pressure turbos on atmo's. plus I wld prefer the wife to have a single spinner..

why does the wife need a turbo for?

an early model FG would be my pick for an upgrade.

waste of time and money turboing a na.

Especially one with 220k on the clock, turning it over for the first time with the turbo attached will probably blow it up..

the wife doesnt "need" a turbo.. I have to drive it at times too though! and she's not averse to the idea of overtaking road trains more easily.
