Hi Guys,

Hoping to pick up my new motor this week, have been fishing around for insurance quotes but they're all reasonably high, cheapest so far is Aami (who I'm with now), I don't think being close to the city is particularly helpful even though the car will be garaged.

What's the standard issue security on the XR6 Turbo? I'm assuming they have an immobiliser, do they have an alarm or not? Only asking because with Allianz, even if I check the locking wheel nuts and immobiliser boxes they say they can't issue a quote online because of the vehicle location & security level!

Lacey

If you really want to get carried away, get a Tramigo T22 fitted (ie GPS tracker). I bought four secondhand ones on eBay UK a few weeks ago and they arrived today. I want something that I can use to locate my taxi if I'm not in it, and disable the car if I get attacked and kicked out of it at night (that's happened to other drivers a bunch of times this year). You send one SMS to get the location, and another SMS can disable the ignition.

Not sure how that'd go to reduce your insurance premium though as it's got no fail safe system and would be relatively easy to disconnect..

AAMI was the best price I managed to get for the XR6T Ute.. And by best they were about $400 better then most of the others.. Closest to them was NRMA.. (Same here though problem dodgey neighbourhood).

I'm not sure how ALLIANZ operates but many companies once you check any form of optional extra (Whether it's CAI, Lock Nuts, Tint or pinstripes) they 'Can't quote online'.. However if you try unchecking the lock nuts in your quote see if they then can provide an online quote.. Because even without taking into account extra security the online quote system for most companies is alot cheaper then a customised quote as it attracts a 10-15% discount as it avoids having to use actual people.. And people are expensive..
