A mate of mine has a BA xr6t which has been possessed by door demons, and yes I have searched the crap outta this and other forums.

When the remote lock is pushed the doors lock, then unlock within a second or two with horn rapid beeps, no worries I think -actuator. Listened to all doors (ear against it) and you can hear all the actuators clunk shut then open. He said it does it as he is driving along too, with the door ajar warning light blinking on and off in unison. It does the same lock/unlock trick when using the center consol door lock button.

When I took a look today the battery had gone flat from the interior light spazzing out I guess, so put a fresh battery in, then removed each door trim and unplugged each actuator, tried to lock -unlocks itself again, so plug it back in and try again on the next till we had tried them all, including the boot just for fun. They all appear to work fine , but did notice when we unplugged the drivers door actuator the doors spazzed out locking and unlocking all by themselves! :dontknow:

Even using the key in the door doesnt work, it still unlocks itself a second later. I am going to try my xcal3 to scan it tomorrow.

So, thoughts?

If your sure all the actuators are ok,could be a broken or shorting wire in the loom where it runs in the door jam or possibly a BEM.. Might be able to pick it up with an IDS if you monitor all door lock status's in datalogger. Need to unplug BEM and test wiring between BEM and door lock actuators. You will need a multimeter and a wiring diagram with also a connector pin reference guide. With all the actuators unplugged you shouldnt have any shorts to ground or positive, shouldnt have any shorts across the wires and should have continuity between connectors.. This all sounds I <3 Bananas confusing but may be the only way of finding your problem. Another thing you can check is that there is no water in the large connectors behind the kickpanels. Having a few lately that interior light stays on and doors dont lock, due to water in these connectors.

The normal cause for this is a malfunctioning door lock. Even though they all sound like they're working, One not locking. Best trick I've found to figure out which lock is the problem, Hit the button to lock the car and as soon as the actuators stop and before it unlocks it self again, try to open a door. If you can't open the door, The actuator in that door is working. Try this on every door and there should be one that opens while the other doors a locked.

ebxmple- took the kick panel off and doused the connectors in wd40 then reassembled them- no luck, still possessed!

ScatterBrain- did that trick first before removing trims, no luck- they all lock then unlock again?

I ran the xcal3 , no fault codes at all. Took all the actuators out again and one by one tried them again, offering a little resistance to their movement. They all had good strength both ways, so I dont think its a broken actuator gear.

I doused all the connectors in wd40 too, just in case. Think a trip to Ford to diagnose the fault may be upcoming.

Next suggestion?

When my car was possessed also it was the micro switch inside the drivers door locking mechanism. All the gears were good just the micro switch had worn slightly which made it short circuit everytime it was locked or unlocked which made the door locks go mental whenever!

I only found out this problem from a bloke working at slacks creek autobarn in brisbane as I originally thought it was my aftermarket viper alarm system.

The problem you have though is that you have checked all the door locks?

Yes bjc, have checked them for strength( pos broken gear), but your right , could be a microswitch rooted. What we need is a 'how to' for testing these damn actuators, be it with a multi meter or what ever other method, would save many people many $$.

Seemed strange to have no luck unplugging them one by one, still kept happening. Even tried unplugging them all and plugging them back in one by one - same result,- horn chirps a door fault warning even with them all unplugged?! :crybaby:
