November 21, 200322 yr #1 Hi Everyone,Just wondering what I should be checking for when I pick my ute up next Tuesday from the Dealer. It is an August plated build. I know things like check under the doors for dodgy paint work but anything else that anyone knows about would be a help.
November 21, 200322 yr #2 Ask Ford how many k's were on it when it left the factory. They told me that they only drive it across the railway tracks a couple of times so there should be no more than about 10kms on it. When I picked it up from the dealer there was 25kms on my car so I considered that pretty reasonable, but check to make sure someone hasnt flogged it at the dealer.Go over it with a fine tooth comb and particularly look at window seals as well

When I picked it up from the dealer it had about 25km on the clock. I'm not suprised, they had to drive it from Mitchell to Braddon and then some. A far cry from when I picked up my previous car, the Pulsar SSS. If I remember correctly, it had only about 3km on the clock and that's when I picked it up
November 22, 200322 yr #4 So can they be driven without the turbo being fitted vg?Ours had 25km on it, that was after the car had been delivered from springwood to woolongabba directly to dads work.Paint under doors is fine. Can I ask if anyone elses spoiler SLIGHTLY wobbles when the boot is closed?
November 22, 200322 yr #5 So can they be driven without the turbo being fitted vg? Glenn,The turbo engine is complete when installed on the production line, FPV simply fit imtercoolers & piping, plus options such as sunroof and 18" wheels.

But you can only see them at an angle under flouro light.Perhaps not such a big deal just anoying once you notice it.Other than that nothing wrong with mine, and from memory it had about 16K's when I took delivery.

If it can be reset then who knows what you are getting. Surely that would be against consumer protection laws
November 22, 200322 yr #8 ask as many questions as possible. When I picked mine up, I asked everything about the car, right down to each nut and bolt. It took 2 hours, I got them to demonstrate the alarm, (hold down the bonnet alarm trigger with finger, and arm car. Let go of trigger to test alarm. Then if it works, disarm. Check the carpet in the boot is attached properly, (the compartment covers). The little plastic plugs that hold it on can become loose. As VG said, go over car with fine tooth comb. Check that all the lights work. Check that all the audio works. And of course, do as the manual says, it has the lot in there. IF you think something doesn't look right, go and compare to another XR in the lot. And... Sedans do come with Traction control, and they do have an LSD. Don't let the salesman try to tell you that you can't have traction control if you have the LSD. Test each option they put in for you as well. Get them to show you everything. Ensure to move the gear leaver around alot. My sequential's selection sleeve buckled, and I was forced to drive in normal Auto mode for a week until they fixed it .remember, you can't be too careful.

Well, interestingly my XR6_T ODO currently says 327km whereas Trip Meter "B" says 328.5km.Unless what you say is true, don't see how the Trip Meter can be reading higher than the ODO.
November 23, 200322 yr #10 check your trip computor av. fuel consumption. mine showed 41 litres per 100 km. after its first frantic 22 kms in the hands of the dealership and now averaging 16.5 litres per 100 km. Check straightness of door panels around external handles ,not sure if slight distortion is normal like EA-EL will check with Dents Out guy I know.
