Losing Patience!

Well I've had the T for 2 months now and I just luv it

There is however an annoying trend I am noticing - the car attracts idiots :banghead:

I have never been overtaken so much in my life, I finally get a fast car only to watch cars go past me? I do the speed limit or a little above and the idiots just HAVE to overtake me. It's like my car is a magnet and they get this feeling inside that just eats away at them until they overtake you then slow down again to the speed limit in front of you  It must be some sort of victory trip for them? I'm not talking about SS's or anything, this is the crap of the road, the wannabes!

The other thing they do which really gets me mad is tailgate, it's like some sort of goading or dare to make you to go faster. I was so pre-occupied with one of these fools today, (was about to give him the finger in the rear view mirror) that I nearly collected the car in front of me that was stopping!

It's all very well to say that I should just "blow" these morons away - I do when I can if the situation (traffic & low likelyhood of a speed camera) allows, but I would have lost my licence by now if I reacted every time.

As I said, these are not drivers of decent cars - mostly 17-24 year olds in crappy old Commodores or similar. It's getting to the point where I am going to stop one day and drag one of these !*?@^$ out of their heap of crap and belt the *$#@ out of 'em!

Anyone else getting this attention?

By the way - did I mention that I love my car?

I dont find anyone doing stupid things like that when im in mine, however the lights on the roof and the blue checkered band may have something to do with it.

I agree. I've noticed the weirdest things since I got the T. Yes, people overtake me all the time, especially the bombiest of bombs. Oh and the odd Crummydore VY S (not SS) seem to want a race. I find there is no point, my dads mazda truck is faster than those ;) WRX and Skyline drivers seem to behave themselves around me (maybe they have the same idiots hovering around them). I have also seen cars full of teenagers act like real monkeys behind me, atleast a dozen or so times. You know, the "let's do some swerving" crap. Alot of tailgaters, but I just tap the brake and they back way off. Oh well, maybe the buzz of driving the T exagurates what really is happening. Maybe there were idiots like that way before I got the T :)

That's why I sold the T.............can't wait for the reactions with the GT (the 4hr demo was enough to whet my appetite).........he,he,he.

Can't resist the challenge.....

Have the extact same prob in NZ. At least you guys/gals don't have the same extent of cheap arsed Jap imports on the roads that we have. These are not the EVO's or WRX's, its the Mirages and Charades and litte pop pop jokes that have 1300cc engines with no turbo or engine mods but still have the fully sick 3" drain pipe hanging off the back of there 1" pipe. I hate people following to close. Comes from riding bikes I guess. I do what I was taught in advanced driving courses. Slow right down so if I have to stop in a hurry I have a larger gap in front to do so. Then blow then away at the lights and slow them down again. They soon get the message!

There has always been dickheads on the roads doing this, and there always will be.

When I first got my XR, everyone would slow right down around me - would annoy me, cos they would be under the limit (they though I was a cop car). But after a year, everyone wanted to run me. (I guess the exhaust note attracts attention)

Same in the sneezer - everytime I take that out - I get dozens of cars acting stupid around me, or just staring. And its not just the crappy cars either. Once on the way up to newie, on the F3, I am cruising along at 110km, and a purple BA XR6T pulls up beside me... drops back... goes forward... he was trying REAL HARD for a run. I just ignored him. He got the hint after a min and roared off into the distance.

Same, same. Everyone slows down thinking you're the coppers (little do they know ;)) then wants to pull you on at every set of lights, especially to the fiancee when she's driving. I slow down and let them go, knowing my car is worth more than they will earn in the next 3 years and is better, MUCH better than there's straight from the factory floor.

In fact its more annoying for them if you just let them go. Something so much classier about a powerful car just cruising rather than getting flogged every time.....but sometimes........

I was about to start a very similar post - obviously it's not just my imagination then. The most frustrating thing I find is that people seem to be less willing to make things easy (like merging, letting you in etc).

I'm currently writing a letter to Mr. Bracks. He wants revenue? I have a toy that seems to MAKE people speed. Just fit my T with one of your "safety cameras" and I'll have half the state catching a bus by the end of the year Bracksy. Just once I'd love to see how important being in front really is to these clowns. I mean, if I did 80 in a 60 zone, would these clowns do 90 and risk their licence all for the glory of being that all conquering car length in front? It gets even better when you approach a set of lights with these idiots. You'd be amazed how many have run reds to avoid coming to a stop next to me.

I used to think people sped to get somewhere quick. They don't. People speed because being in front or having the quickest car is a form of status. Interesting thing is, if it wasn't for this culture, HSV & FPV would be hard pressed to sell anything. I like powerful cars - I have one. In 10 years of driving, I'm yet (touch wood) to get a speeding fine. You don't think I'm tempted to leave these people in my dust at every traffic light? I can feel the urge building but I guess my license and other people's safety comes first. At the end of the day, what is happening on our roads is a direct example of what is wrong with society these days - the maturity level of people is bottoming out. Gross generalisation? Possibly. But at 29 and knowing full well that I still have a lot to learn, that is my opinion. Oh and do me a favour. If you see me driving my T and want to show me how fast your Sirion is, please don't. I promise I'll take your word for it that your cars is better if it will avoid you acting the fool. :hiwelcome:

I think this has been my official first "rant".
