Rust On New Car Engine Block?

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

I have just bought a 2010 xr6 6spd Auto Ute, and opened the bonnet yesterday to discover that there is what appears to be surface rust on the drivers side of the engine block....

is that normal?

Please see attached photos.

ah ok.

Is it something I could paint? I rekon it looks a bit sh*t.....

#4

Yeah you could paint it but would be a bitch of a job ie: engine out job, you would need to use a high temp paint and sand back the block to get rid of the oxidation otherwise the paint won't stick

oh I see, well I think I will just live with it!

Getting the Pacemakers put on soon, so that'll bling up the engine bay a bit.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Reckon Inox would be ok to spray on it?

Yeah agreed. But would inox be ok in terms of heat?

Nah id leave it. Inox or something similar will stink when the motor gets up to temp
