Hey guys,

For all you technical guru's out there, just wondering how feasible an automatic conversion would be (I have a 5 speed manual) as I want to be able to run more power but don't want the quirks and worries of the xr6t manual box along with it....was thinking c4 auto conversion, the gearbox wouldnt be a problem that way and with a change in diff gears would definitely wake up the xr6t and turn it into a street and track warrior with the right modifications....how hard would it be to convert my car to an auto ? the c4 auto box is like 5 grand installed btw....

Cheers.

Ondole,

the APS people will tell you that the gearbox so far is handling the torque limits of the turbo, there car is making near the limit of 620 brake hp. They've been flogging the ringer out of her for some time & to date have only done 1 clutch & that was at the drags. Your gearbag will handle power upgrades & sensible usage. A C4 can be broken as well & its gearing will not suit the car at all.

I'm thinking about it, but doesnt the XR8 box have different ratio's that arent that beneficial to the T?

I.e. loose a bit of power because of it.

The XR8 box won't fit the 6cyl because it the bellhousing is cast as part of the case of the gearbox. Though you may be able to get someone like Dellow or Castlemaine Rod Shop to make some sort of adaptor plate.
