if its the year when the navara has the 2.5 turbo engine with 6spd auto I would be getting that one. And in the Navara if it is the right year the rear seats can fold flat to the floor or completely up against rear of cab to make one big area for luggage, it is real handy.

As for the capability and drivability of the cars - Go for a Ranger or BT-50! The ford diesel has more torque at lower rpms - plus a torsion bar front end as opposed to coils struts. Better for durability and load carrying.

Navara looks good and goes ok but the rear end can't carry anything. Hilux is pretty and has Toyota back up with decent space in the back.

IMHO the Ranger and the BT-50 are the best utes in the class - we look after the suspension upgrades for Westrac's Rangers and I've seen what they carry, truts me, they are tough utes!

Should also mention that you'll probably save around 10K over a hilux and maybe 5K over a navara

Ford Ranger all the way.. I have an 07 4cyl turbo diesel 5sp auto dualcab ex Govt and paid $25K over a year ago. Couldn't be happier.

Missus drives it with the kids while I have the XR6T but great for weekends on dirt roads :spoton:

And now the stable is full of Fords :icon_ford:

Go the Ranger. We picked up a top of the range XLT manual 4x4 recently for $25k with 80k on the clock. Has ARB bar, spottys and hard lid. Goes fairly hard and has decent ability off road to. In my opinion has the nicest interior as well. Has its share of problems as every new car has but nothing major. Just get the bonnet striker replaced and if your after cruise it can be fitted by ford.
