gday guys

im new to this site and have just brought a 04 ba mk2 xr6t ute.

the previous owner had detuned the car so his wife could drive it , before the detune it had 398hp at the rears and he wasnt happy with the tune thought it would make more than that.

the mods are-

process west intake plenum

lightly machined head

heavy duty valve springs

3 layer cometic head gasket

walbro intake fuel pump

42lb bosch injectors

billet aluminium fuel rail

magnaflow fuel regulator 3port with boost referance and fuel pressure gauge

earls turbo oil feed kit

hks blow off valve

hybrid intercooler with custom piping

pwr radiator

serk 21 row stacked plate auto cooler

pole position expansion tank

process west under battery cold air intake

k&n air filter

high flow cat

2.5 stainless exhaust

12psi actuator

turbosmart boost controller

my question is where in qld would you guys recomend getting it tuned im in hervey bay so south east qld, I was thinking with those mods hopefully it would go near 350kw at the treads, what do you guys think??

cheers maso..

Hey mate, injectors will be nearly at there 350 if u want to go further, as for limits there shouldn't be much at that point maybe that's all the tuner was willin to push the engine and auto??? Did he say at what boost it was running to make 398?

To go any further with it has it's risks and with risks comes cost. To minimise the risk perhaps a better cooler to aid in efficency and keep temps as low as possible, bigger injectors, surge tank and pump (if it doesn't already) to minimise the chance of leaning things out if you are giving it a hard time, and a 4' dump to go with the system you already have which in theory should give the same power if not abit more as the STD one at lower boost levels.

As for tuners I can't recommend anyone better than Dave sheehy or as he's known around here as blueboost, in mackay. He's done mine and the result speak for themselves plus he's a top bloke. Hope this helped and didn't make it worse.

I think it was 14psi at 398 yes he didnt wont to go over 400 as the previous owner didnt want to replace the gearbox, after reading a bit more on this site maybe I shouldnt take it over 400hp as it is a dailydriver and I want it reliable .

mackay is a bit far to go to get it tuned , looking for somewhere between sunnycoast and gold coast.

cheers maso

RDP is closer and they do good work - no question. However, If you don't mind going to the goldie (about 1hr more) High-Torque Performance in Labrador will sort you out. They (as do RDP) have some big hp XR6 T clients. They tuned my car and were very professional. Also, Chiptorque in Nerang do good work. They don't get much air play and don't do a lot of the dyno day stuff, but probably have the tidest workshop I've ever seen. Cheers, Bomber.
