Holden To Ford

Hey everybody,

I am new to this forum as I currently own "Holden" vz ss ute buuut I am in the market for a Fgxr6 turo ute.

I am very new to the ford scene and would appreciate feedack from anyone who currently owns a xr6 turbo.

as I am in the market for a fg xr6turbo ute what should I been looking for , I am still unsure if I am going to get a manual or auto yet (what are the pros or cons )

and is the anything I should beccareful of?

And it all starts - poor bastard! My two cents - buy the auto. The manual has too many clutch, clunks and other issues IMO. Check out the posts on it - it never ends. The auto is quicker also (he he - that should get the thread chirping). Edited 20/02/11 08:59 AM by bomber

Auto is the way the ZF 6 speed auto is the best gearbox in its class and can handel more power if you ever decide to mod the engine!

I dont have a FG XR6 Turbo Ute but I have driven a sedan and I got to say very impressed

Go to your local dealer and a decent dealer will be able to answer most of your questions.

Welcome bud,good to see yet another conversion in the favour of the blue stable,VZ SS,what can I say?not much haha nah there not to bad just a mate of mine HAD one til it fell to bits in a hurry,LS motors are pretty sweet though,good bfb that's for sure,go the auto with the FG XR6T mate,as much as u may be a manual man I got the ZF auto and its f*cking sensational to say the least and 1000's will agree,I have parts to get rid of shortly so let me know when and if u get it,Rick. good luck matey :icon_ford:and the only thing you should be careful of is the right foot always wanting to mash the loud pedal

I got a manual fg turbo ute love it, I have no clunks in my gearbox, alot of people do complain its noisy, I ever so rarely hear a clunk.

The zf is a good gearbox though and u will b quicker then all the manual boys! drive both see what u like.!

Auto is good for 350-400rwkw stock...

Manual, you'll need a clutch probably even if you just get a tune and injectors... (ie. 270+rwkw)

However, once you have a decent clutch, manual box is good for 450rwkw+...

Depends on what you are looking for? Auto definitely quicker in a straight line... Much!!!

Manual with a clutch will hold more power than the zf. Go auto if you want to be .5 seconds quicker. Try get an xr50 model if you can. Has all the bells and whistles.

the tr6060 boxes area step ahead of the old box from the b-series but still have nothing on the ZF and are clunky STILL,but to the guy in the hunt,go with what your heart tells u mate.

ZF is 0.5 faster if you are a great shifter on manuals. My mate Mat ran on the same night as me at the motorplex and with a little more power than I, was over one second slower, poor bastard couldn't quite crack 12's! He had a great time though, and that sums it up. Auto is faster, manual more involving and fun if you enjoy the challenge.

Ex police cars can be cheap and have goodies - if you are located over east one of the states bought Typhoon 18" rims and Brembo packages for the fleet of XR6T's...they are coming onto the market now I think? Ex cop is a can of worms though. Mine is ex police and I love it...was fast stock too due to being well run in (take that how you like).
