05/02/11 11:27 PM05/02/11 11:27 PM #2 did the noise stop when you removed the sheild ? if so just leave it off........problem fixed, and weight reduction all in one if its still noisy, maybe cat is stuffed ?

07/02/11 04:21 AM07/02/11 04:21 AM #4 I picked my car up last week from service at my tuner and there was a rattle. Cut a long story short, there was a sensor screwed into the caat that was finger tight. You can't see it, as its on the passenger side of the exhaust so you may miss it. I know tightening it solved the problem. It was at low revs and idling through a car park it sounded like a chalf cutter. May not be your issue but worth a look.

07/03/11 08:44 AM07/03/11 08:44 AM #10 mine makes a pretty bad rattle only when im parked and in drive if u put it nuatral it goes away can any one help with thatA common problem with these I6 engines is a rattle in the exhaust, If you have a look there are two halves of the heat shields on the exhaust, the most common area that causes a rattle is the section of exhaust that contains the Catalytic converter, the front of this section bolts the exhaust manifold, and the rear bolts to the intermediate section of the exhaust, the standard systems have stainless steel straps welded to the mild steel exhaust, the straps are what both halves of the heat shield bolt to. Due to two dis-similar metals but more likely poor welding, the weld bead cracks and the straps vibrate against the exhaust and cause the heat shields to rattle, this can also cause the stainless cable ties on the outside of the heat shield to loosen at the rear of the cat section of the exhaust making it worse. When I worked at ford we did heaps of these, you can either have a crack at welding it up or take it to a exhaust shop. Your decision. Hope this helps, If you still have dramas, pm me and I can give you some more areas to look but like I said this is the most common one.
