Stupid question, but you do let the pump prime before you start the car don't you?

Shouldnt really have to as the fuel pressure reg should maintain pressure in the rail for starting, if you flick the key to ign on once or twice then see if it starts without any throttle that would indicate the reg leaking pressure.
