Hey,

When cruising and I plant my foot it feels like the engine almost cuts out, then bam the power is on. the power comes on smooth though after it's initial hesitation, almost feels like it backfires. and it does it even in manual mode. If I plant it in first it hesitates and feels like it almost cuts out before the power comes on. Anybody else have this problem, or know what causes it?

It an o7 BF Mk2 Typhoon. Mods 4" to 3.5" SMB exhaust, nizpro plenum, cooler, ptocess west air box, surge tank. nizpro injectors. 370rwkw. Also when I nail it I can only get wheel spin from first to second shifts, I thought that with this much power it would wheel spin a lot more?

Feels like the power has gone down a bit since the tune, I had a run against a nissan 370z and I'm guessing that's 370 flywheel kw, and it was pulling away from me, I would have thought that my 370rwkw 1100nm phoon would of at least kept up or even beaten it??

The car missing for the first bit when I really nail it probably gave the nissan a jump start. But it's pissing me off. Any ideas guys?

I had this once after leaving the townsville drags. Stopped on the way home for some launching fun and on the third skid it just died in second gear! I thought oh fck its dead but has never done it again. Could have been fuel surge but had surge tank fitted or could have been a coil saying enough? Pinging did start shortly after and I thought an injector or 2 (39lb ford motorsport) had started to pack it in?

Do you have a boost guage?

I'd close plugs right up to .60mm, my idle is still good even with the 60lb siemens injectors.

If you want a hand with anything send me a PM as I've got nothing on this weekend and can see if you can get to the bottom of it!

Brett

I have approximately 280rwkw and I had a go with a 370z that I would say was mildly modified (exhaust, extractors tune etc...) and in a straight line it couldn't keep up...

370z means 3.7litre... They are about 230kw or 190rwkw... About as quick as an auto stock T...

Your car with 370rwkw would flog it like a 12 year old boy does his little pecker! Unless it was turboed etc... No 6 cylinder unblown is gonna keep up with 370rwkw unless it's a Suzuki cupacino with a 6 cylinder that has been lightened and worked to the sh*thouse!

I went though all this sh!t with Ray076 apart from the backfiring and hesitation. Lazy boost was the problem due to someone not knowing what they were doing (turbo shop mind you!) and porting the a$$ out of the turbo housing. We even had a piece of wire holding the wastegate shut in the end and it was as lazy as sh!t with only 8lb boost at 3000rpm. No loose nuts no leakages just a fcked turbo job...

All fixed now after lots of swearing and sunburns from lying under the car working out in the open!

Thanks for the help guys, Definetly something wrong here if the nissan was pulling away. Would love to get it sorted Brett.

And yeah, the nissan sounded stock, definetly no turbo.

I don't know what the f*ck is going on. :dontknow: My Car knowledge is fairly limited.

Went for a decent drive today, had a few launches to see if I could get the problem to replicate. (Hard to do around town)

After having a decent drive I think it's cause I was hitting the rev limiter after changing first into second, during the shift, causing it to splutter into second. I started shifting just before 4000rpm and problem gone.

Hopefully this is all it was.. But still spewin about the whole nissan thing. I might throw it on a dyno next time I have a chance and see what sorta power it's got. But after todays drive the power felt good. So I'm suss and am begining to think that maybe the 370z was worked? Anyway, I'm f*ckin embarrased. :pooh:

Oh yeah, I kept an eye on the boost guage, (FPV Stock one). It just maxes out and stays there. I think It just hits the limiter during shifts when I floor it.
