Hi,

Can anyone out there tell me the best way to rejuvenate my EF Falcon's headlights. They are the standard factory plastic ones, but are starting to fade and need to be cleaned (which is very common with them).. I belive there are headlight rejuvenation kits out there, but hav been unable to find any around my area. Is there anything anyone could recommend. It would be a great help.

Cheers.

a good panel beaters should be able to do it for you ,using different grades of paper and a good sealer.

have a look at this http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/how-to/maintenance/4252611,

probably have to order a kit over the interweb.

Forget the kits they are a waste of money. You will need 800, 1500, 2000 wet and dry a medium cut polish and a soft finishing polish. I recommend Menzerna 203S as your medium and 85RD as your soft.

Polish them as you would the paintwork on your car. Just dont allow heat to build up on the plastic though. I would also recommend a test subject first as well. Mess up something similar that your not going to miss and work out your technique first. Once done seal them as you would you paint.

Good Luck

Heres a couple of links you might find useful.

Is it that they need to be cleaned or has the clear lens gone milky/opaque?

Are you using bulbs that are "UV Cut"?

Polycarbonate headlights that have non UV cut run in them will destroy the clear lens in not too long at all.

Just give it a hit with some good old tooth paste - not gel, paste!

It'll make your headlights clear and sparkle and smell fresh and minty!

those head light kits do work fine if done properly - but as said, replace your headlight globes with new phillips ones- phillips were the only "mainstream" manufacturer to have there headlight globes UV stabilized up until 6 months ago when narva started doing it finally (still inferior)
