positive crankcase ventilation, yes there is some pressure behind it.

is the pcv valve (not pvc as many mistakenly call it) used to supply pressure for the brake booster?

ahhhh... so could the fact that I found it out of the vent hole mean there is too much blow-by causing the pressure to be to much for it to handle and be forced out of its hole? would this tell me I have a busted ring or something of the sort?

if you have a busted ring, I'd keep it quiet and see a doctor asap.... :icon_ford:

but yeah, I dont reckon these should easily be able to be removed by hand...

I thought the brake booster runs off manifold vacuum?

The PCV is for emissions and allows the crankcase emissions to be recirculated back through the inlet manifold and it will burn up the nasties through combustion.

The brake booster vacuum is taken from the inlet manifold, not the PCV.

If you are popping the PCV valve it could be one of 3 things:

1. the PCV seal is too lose

2. The PCV is stuffed, as it is a one way valve and can get stuck or blocked

3. There is excessive blow by causing too much pressure in the motor.

The PCV should not be easy to remove as it is held in place by a tight rubber grommet.
