after just getting my tailshaft centre bearing replaced, I installed the tailshaft and went for test drive.

all was well no noise liek it had, very smooth so seemed that the problem was fixed, turned around 2km up the road headed home

then all of a sudden car shuddering, loss of power, engine sound was not good, there is a bit of a ticking sound coming from the

engine, the car has a a huge shake when stationary, give a little revs and that shake goes away. Is this a bent rod or somthing else? sorta sounds like that ecu was taking all the timing out and just no power at all. neep help ??????

Could be traction control, when the steering column starts to give up(electronically) it can cause the t/c to kick in unexpectedly, do a search here on site-lotsa info, just gotta dig!

did you give it a boot with less then half a tank of fuel and not running a surge tank? If so, engine rebuild time!

He has a ute so no need for surge tank under 500rwhp. Dont give your opinion if you dont know.

If compression ok, I would look at the ignition system.....1 or 2 dead cylinders can make it feel very anaemic.

Fuel quality ok? If it has water in it, it will do this also. A litre or two of metho in a full tank should cure it. Did you put fuel in it just before it started playing up?

No way of hearing the ticking you refer to, so can't suggest how important or not that may be.
