Hey guys,

I am new to this forum, I have never posted but was always reading lol.. I am crossing over from the dark side :P

Just a quick question, I am going to have a look at a 2009 FG XR6 Turbo M6 ute tomorrow and the owner has informed me that the car was fitted with the 2010 Tailshaft under warranty as the original one was faulty... Anything to be worried about??

Also, I have never driven one so any tips on what to look out for? The car has done 20,000 kms..

Cheers

First thing you will probably notice with a manuel 6 ute is drive line noises. Clunks, thuds, clicks, and my diff whines like a whore. So I guess have a listen and make sure your happy with those noises. My diff is suposed to getting done under warrenty, week tuesday so well see what comes of it.

Most of the noises are apprenlty "standard".

If you already know about the tailshaft then I dont think there is anything else to know really, just common sence. Make sure you do all your normal checks when buying a car, oil leaks, steering noises, check all dials and button inside. Make sure no warning lights are on. Suspention noises, visualy check under the car for damage, scapage, and any bushes you can see for worn one, and or any modifications.

20k on the clock, FG, should be pretty smicko any ways. Is it still under warrenty now?

Just further on the tailshaft issue, they were having trouble with them but if you've got the new and improved version then even better :roflmbo:

A tip for your first drive...an incontinence pad. :w00t2:

Thanks mate yeh still got 2 and a half years warranty... He reckons its the 2010 Tailshaft so it doesn't have the tailshaft issue that the 08 09 models had.. The car will be RACV inspected if everything is OK tommorow...

Cheers

dont stress too much mate you still have 80000k worth of warranty if anything goes wrong :stupid: - I think the biggest thing that will worry you is the driveline clunk but you will soon learn to drive around that - just dont spin the wheels too much on the test drive :roflmbo:

Do a vehicle check to make sure it's never been smashed...

And try an auto... I bought a manual first time I bought a T, but the auto is much quicker and just as much fun!!!
