I see alot of people with aftermarket cooler thermostat. Apart from the obvious, is there any benefits from it over the standard ones? A tuning benefit etc?

Also where do you get them from and how much do they go for roughly. Just concidering if I actually need one and why.

" Factory O.E.M. thermostats as found in Ford falcon 5.4L V8, 4.0L T and Typhoon start to open at 93deg C and do not fully open until 105deg C.

By replacing the stock thermostat with a correctly compensated thermostat, optimum peak horsepower and torque can be achieved and maintained by optimizing factory PCM spark and fuel maps before the engine is heat soaked."

stock thermo is all u need and there for a reason. u are not going to pick up big horsepower or gains with an aftermarket thermo. stock engine/clearances = stock thermo.
