Too much tyre flex On a 19 or 20 definately not. Not enough tyre wall. The correct rim size would be 9.5 inch rear rim and an 8 inch front.Benny Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/68365-getting-the-fg-to-run-0-100/page/4/#findComment-1011942 Share on other sites
Arkayne Member 203 Member For: 16y 4m 8d Gender: Male Posted 30/05/10 02:24 PM Author Share Posted 30/05/10 02:24 PM (edited) Ok, so I need to clear this up so I know what to look for haha..So I'll get the kuhmo KU36 275wide tyres.. Even if I stick to 18 inch rims, I still need to get 9.5 inch wide rims, correct? Is this ONLY for rear, or is it ok to get it for the front as well?If I go for 19 inch (cant go 20's since KU36's don't come in 20's), I still go for 9.5inch on both front and back, right? Also, looking at the tyre, they're semi-slicks. How many kilometers will I get out of them? Am I looking at only say 8,000kays, or like 15,000kays? Plague Member Donating Members 58 Member For: 19y 11m Gender: Male Location: Brisbane Posted 30/05/10 10:21 PM Share Posted 30/05/10 10:21 PM Most people go for 8.5 in the front and 9.5 for the rears, you wont be able to fit 275s on the front so you only need the wider rim for the rears.KU36s should last you around 15,000 depending on your driving style. seduced Need more power. Now taking donations. Member 753 Member For: 16y 2m 13d Gender: Male Posted 30/05/10 11:41 PM Share Posted 30/05/10 11:41 PM I think you need to look at what you are tyring to achieve versus the cost. You want quick 0-100 times aka more grip. Right now the solution chosen is 275 tyres that require new rims, wont last all that long, cannot be rotated due to different sizes front and rear and wont give you much more noticable straight line grip anyway. Are 0-100 times so important to you that you would spend $2-4k on new rims and tyres? You could stick with your factory rims, throw on a set of 245s that CAN be rotated to extend life, and still enjoy blistering launches with slightly more wheelspin. All for under $1k.... Arkayne Member 203 Member For: 16y 4m 8d Gender: Male Posted 31/05/10 03:39 AM Author Share Posted 31/05/10 03:39 AM (edited) I think seduced has a point. This is only a street car, and the only time it'll see a 1/4 mile is to get a time since it's been modified, etc. With that in mind, I'm still looking to get Dark Argent rims. Would people recommend 19's or 20's? What's easier/cheaper to get tyres for?So I guess I'll go for 245's.. can someone recommend me a good brand of these for every-day driving (so ~15,000ks)? Or should I still go for the KU36s just in 245's? Sadly, I think that's probably not a realistic option. You will have to make a compromise somewhere. In regards to your 19/20 dark argent problems, I would probably go a set of 19's as they still look awesome, but they dont sacrifice ride quality as much as a 20. There are more rubber options for a 19, and they will be significantly cheaper.Do you want genuines or are you happy to go for an aftermarket set? Ebay has dark argent 19's going for about $990 without tyres. They do packages with the rims, but the tyres seem pretty crap - I'd reckon you'd be best off with a set, then go and find your own tyres.Go to ebay and search FPV, then in the 'refine search' column on the left, click wheels and tyres. There was probably 10+ when I checked earlier on today.Good luck with it mate Dan Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/68365-getting-the-fg-to-run-0-100/page/4/#findComment-1012115 Share on other sites

They don't make the right size, 18's only. This is not a major issue there other options for tyres in 19's. For a really good gripping tyre in 19 you will be up for decent money, 500+ I'd say. Options I'd consider would be Pirellis, Michelin, Good Year, Yokohama etcBenny Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/68365-getting-the-fg-to-run-0-100/page/4/#findComment-1012202 Share on other sites

Arkayne Member 203 Member For: 16y 4m 8d Gender: Male Posted 02/06/10 01:58 PM Author Share Posted 02/06/10 01:58 PM (edited) Just an update guys, got my car back today after a re-tune once we put the new 4" CAT in.. and it is INSANE. I can't believe how it goes now compared to how it did from factory (or even my previous tune of 297rwkw).I admit, first and second gear gets a sh*t load of wheelspin, but even with wheelspin, I don't even see 60-90km/h, it flies past with a blink of an eye. I'll get it counted professionally with software, but with a stop watch, I'm getting at least 4.2seconds to 100km/h.I'm in love! My new numberplate is going to be Wheel Spin - it's INSANE!!!! It's such a buzz when you get a new tune with more power. Tyre selection is going to be even more vital with your new tune, lol.Take care with the new power.Benny Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/68365-getting-the-fg-to-run-0-100/page/4/#findComment-1013541 Share on other sites
