What breaks in this assembly? The locating cutout is in the lower right side.

  • Change the assembly Gary, the original cable will be stretched to shit.

  • I'm glad my PM reply advice aligns with Luke's wisdom! Also found it fairly easy to install. Messy in my dusty wheel arch as mentioned by Bizkets but just remember to close your eyes when you pop out

  • Sounds like RACQ have snapped a few off during callouts! At the motor show in Perth when the GT 40th was being debuted, I pulled the bonnet release and it broke/popped off..I quietly got out and walke

Hi robbiefisher , whats happened is your bonnet cable has jammed and the plastic captive cage on the fuse block has broken.

You will need a new fuse block assembly.

Thankyou, that's the sort of news I didn't want to hear,

it looks like an auto elect. is going to have to be involved in this repair.

If I go to Fords they will welcome me with open arms and empty mi wallet.

I believe these fuse block assembly's are available on the internet, check that out.

It may reduce your reliance on Ford and save.

You may be able to tackle this replacement yourself, depending on your technicial expertise.

It would be possible to glue the bonnet release in position if you don't care.

Guys,

thankyou for all your input,

I'll do a search and see if it comes up with anything.

I dont want to glue it in,

I like the idea of getting the part first then I can make my own arrangements with the fitting with an auto elect

I'll study its position and see if I can make it a little project for the Dremmel.

hey mate, they actually redesigned the system about a year ago, so you just need the new bonnet release lever, its located in the fuse block differently so you shouldn't need a new fuse block.

If you go in and see the service guys they should be able to look at it and see that its fine (provided you get an honest worker) then buy a new one and have it fitted on the spot, or take it home and fit it up.

Thanks Matte I'll do that,so what your saying is all I have to buy is a modified bonnet pull assembly

hey mate, yeah you should be able to walk into ford and ask for the new bonnet release lever, and you should get the new part. unfortunately I dont have a picture, but it looks fairly different in the way it clips into the fuse box
