I dont think anyone with an fg has to worry about the manifold studs coming loose. I wanna replace them and cant get the buggers out. they are soaking in wd40 overnight. so tight compared to the ones I took off my mates ba!do any of the forum sponsors do new turbo/ manifold stud kits?? beats buying them from ford:) Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/66700-new-mods/page/5/#findComment-1050446 Share on other sites

If you only mod the front end of that turbo you are going to increase the exhaust back pressure on the rear end and have different issues. There is alot of restriction in the rear turbo housing. Just think of doing a lot of mods to your intake and only running a 2" exhuast, ultimately this is what you would be doing. You're getting the air in but not out. Good luck with it all mate sounds good so far. Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/66700-new-mods/page/5/#findComment-1050501 Share on other sites
Boosted1 Member 346 Member For: 16y 6m 24d Posted 26/10/10 09:40 AM Author Share Posted 26/10/10 09:40 AM yeah the turbo is having the wastegate ported and up sized. I will be looking at a dump pipe and exhaust in the future. I think that this is a good mod if you have to upgrade your smaller fg turbo, only costs a little more than the f6 comp wheel. but its all trial and error. Boosted1 Member 346 Member For: 16y 6m 24d Posted 26/10/10 10:59 AM Author Share Posted 26/10/10 10:59 AM is it really that much of a restriction? I have read that its quite minimal on upgrading to a to4 front housing? what would you seggest? I have a BA turbo which also has a larger exhuast housing. I suggest what was suggested to me, bite the bullet and go for a different turbo and manifold. Until then I am just going to max out my turbo which sould see me through to about 410rkw. I have cooler plenum exhuast etc... Boosted1 Member 346 Member For: 16y 6m 24d Posted 27/10/10 07:41 AM Author Share Posted 27/10/10 07:41 AM (edited) my turbo is down at gtg atm getting looked at, I am yet to decide wether to do a to4 front housing machined onto the standard ford exhaust housing, or have the to4 comp wheel fitted to a gt35 .70 housing? there is about 500 dollars difference in the two.hmm after looking into the flow problems I am leaning toward getting the standard front housing machined to suit the to4 comp wheel, but I found this on another thread. The 1.06 A/R GT30R / GT35R exhaust housing is NOT a restriction on a T04Z as some would have you believe. This housing is similar size to a .84 T04 housing. In fact The 1.06 A/R GT30R / GT35R exhaust housing has a nicer volute area than the T04 housing that comes standard on the T04Z.anyseggestions?? Boosted1 Member 346 Member For: 16y 6m 24d Posted 18/12/10 04:37 AM Author Share Posted 18/12/10 04:37 AM well after 6 weeks my ute has been off the road getting a new turbo done. after having massive issues with the turbo, and being very unlucky. it is now on the ute and running like a dream! the turbo I settled for is a HTA3794, profiled to suit the standard exhaust housing. the turbo specs are 67mm inducer, 94mm exducer on the comp wheel, and a gt37 exhaust turbine wheel. this turbo should give simular if not better results to the to4z conversion that alot of people are doing. the hta3794 will come into its own when a bigger exhaust housing is put on.... but that is down the track a little.the exhaust is goin on next week, it will be a single 4" all the way through, with a 4" dump pipe.
