Premium Audio Question

If you have premium audio you'll know what I mean in this question....I hope.

The impact of the sound, when playing a CD in studio or stadium mode, is far more pronounced than when its either on hall or off (obvious remark #1).

There is this 'rattley' or tinny sound though, that comes through either the vocals or the drums. An echoey, tinny sort of thing. Hard to describe but having used stereos with similiar functions before, the sound seems common.

Is there any way of adjusting the system using fade/balance, or the CD compression etc to get rid of this sound. I dont think its my ears !!

The best you can do I reckon, it to firstly turn off DSP.

Then just adjust Bass/Treble according to your likes.

Not much else you can do.

That's about it, I have bass turned up 75% of the way, treble around 65% and it's all good. DSP.....pffft, forget it. 'No tinnyness here'!

O that's right, I now have that exhaust drone constantly happening... :lol:

Seriously, I think the quality of the prem. sound is great (for what it is).

What I have found with premium audio is , you can adjust treble , bass etc to your tastes within each of the 3 modes (hall , stadium etc)

Once you set up each mode , it does not sound too bad ,..

I don't use the DSP programmed setting either. I just adjust the base and treble to my liking and leave it at that. I used to be quite a car / home audio fan, but had to give it up before I got too serious as it was just too expensive to keep up to date.

To be honest, I was not that impressed with the sound of the premium audio, especially after hearing lots of people rave about it on this site. Don't get me wrong, the sound of the premium audio is OK, its just not up there with a good aftermarket system that can be purchased for less than $900 including speakers IMHO. As it is though, I like the colour screen and the sound is suitable for my purposes.

Having been an audiophile (no, it's not something nasty, Ken) from way back, I would tend to describe the premium sound as "adequate" and leave it at that.

I understand it benefits considerably from upgrades to better quality speakers, but I tend to listen to music at "realistic" levels at home (which can be bloody loud with rock!) and to ABC radio in the car.

Zeke junior, whose car can be heard coming home from miles away in the early hours of the morning with a "doof doof doof" sound that comes from two subs that take up all the boot space in his car, gave the premium sound a - suppose that says something! He was probably listening to it at ear-bleeding levels, though.
