Central Locking Problem

Hi guys,

just wondering if anyone has come accross a problem where when the car is unlocked, if you open the door the central locking locks then opens, this happens 75% of the time.

azza,

If the door does actually lock then the gear should be ok but the locking and then unlocking is most probably the micro switch that is in with the actuator.

I posted this somewhere else but what basically is happening is that the micro switch is triggered (pressed) from a sliding arm inside the actuator, I assume that over time the switch from being triggered so much either wears the small plastic trigger or inside the switch the little metal arms wear from the constant arching.

The fix I used from what I remember was a washer under the arm that the slider pivots on. This raised the arm slightly which pressed the switch in further. I haven't had a problem since with it.

An alarm installer (kim?) at Autobarn in slacks creek brisbane told me it might be the problem as he had come across this a few times but just used to replace the whole unit and not fix them.

The micro switch is on the side that is shown in the photo. You will know what I am talking about when you open one up.

The biggest problem is finding out which switch is the dodgy one, mine was the drivers door but the easiest way to fault find if it does it constantly is to unplug them all and start at the drivers door, locking and unlocking them.

Hope this helps and good luck.

True it could be the micro switch. Mine was the actuator, it was partially locking causing the micros which not to engage.

Yeah when my gear in the passenger door broke the only noise I would get from it was grinding!
