Cleaning Materials

Hi Everyone

Not sure if this has been discussed before, so sorry if it has. About to take delivery of my new ride and wondering what everyone is using out there to clean their ride.

Washing mix have used heaps, I like turtle wax, but use a polish that I used to use when I had my show car a few years ago. It is called CARLACK 68. I have only seen it in auto paint shops and some specialized places.

Maguiers Gold Wash is the ducks guts I reckon, as are most of the Maguiers range of products. Turtle Wax is OK but doesn't give the shine like Gold Wash.

Just had mine Armaglazed,looks nice, feels nice but need some time to see how it stands up.

Team AAOCOTS use and recommend Gold wash. Spend a couple of hundred bucks and buy yourself the whole kit and kaboodle.. wash, polish, scratch-x, wax, pads, wheel stuff..

And I thought the wife was expensive. you get that ...

Definitely Maguiars. Gold Class is excellent for paint cleaner, polish, tyre balck (Endurance)etc. but for everyday washing, just the Soft Wash Gel does a great job and is very good value.

Another product I have used for my current german vehicle soon to be sold is mothers wheel cleaner for brake dust, its very good.

There are two types of cleaner one for mag and alloys. I think one is chemical based and one is not. I have just gone for the standard 17" wheels. what do you recommend as a wheel cleaner.

Whatever I have left in the bucket after I've finished washing the rest of the car is all I use to clean my wheels. This does the job just fine. The only issue is if there is tar stuck to the wheel, in which case I just use a tar remover or kero.

What I really hate are stupid BUGS all over the front bumper. Go for a drive out Gippsland way and you can't even see the Venom paint for stupid mashed bug innards.

I know there is Bug Off and all the other bug removers, but they are still my pet hate.

(my rant is because I just washed the car after driving 400kms through the country yesterday. The bugs were 5ft thick!)

I was a Meguires user and then switched to Mothers 3 stage stuff.

I foudn the mothers to be a little easier to use - and the results to be slightly better than the Meguires stuff.

That said once I'm through the Mopthers stuff I'm goignt o give Autoglym a go again now that I've found a decent source of it. Top finish from that stuff and it's quite resiliant which is important in these days of water restrictions!
