Someone mentioned the need to block off that filter/vent halfway down the pipe. Is that an issue? Or can it be left as is? Arkayne Member 203 Member For: 16y 4m 2d Gender: Male Posted 16/12/09 11:57 AM Author Share Posted 16/12/09 11:57 AM Thanks, I will make sure to ask that when buying. Did they supply you with the mesh as well? Also what filter fits well with it (or does it come with one)? I was assuming K&N as per my other topic asking about mods. My snorkel did come with the mesh. Also, after you fit the snorkel you will have to move the rubber seal on the underside of the bonnet further back.If you leave it where it is with the larer snorkel it doesn't seal on the top of it and hangs in the airstream. You only have to drill 2 new holes for the clips approx 10-15mm further back on the bonnet. You may have to give some clearance on the snorkel near the drive belt also.Mine looks messy but it's effective.I haven't had the chance to dyno my car with the standard filter then swapping to the K&N.Either way, you can purchase both off ebay.Hope this helps. Will take this information with me to the tuner so he can fit it correctly. I'm not touching it myself: no experience + don't know what I'm doing will not equal a good result.Question though, the last picture you took - is this just to show me, or is that how you positioned your air intake? Isn't the snorkle opening suppose to be facing forward, towards the car's front-bar mesh?Thank you for taking the time to take photos + explain it! It came with a membrane/filter over additional intake hole. It fit without any modification (cleared the belt by arount 15mm). However it is just touching a silver water pipe which I'll keep an eye on. Purchase it direct from FTG and if you mention that you're a Ford Forums member they will charge $150 + postage. Postage to Sydney was $25. I ordered on a Friday around 10am and rec'd it in the Sydney CBD the next Monday around noon. Excellent service !I ended up trimming the rubber rather than drill additional holes in the bonnet underside. All up took about 15 minutes to fit and I'm a keyboard jockey.Thinking of getting the F6 instrument panel from FTG as it has the additional gauges (boost, oil temp). The last picture was taken to show the indentation more than anything.Skidude, you will need to give it further clearance as it looks ok at rest but when you're on the throttle hard the engine will torque over and the snorkel may come into contact with the drive belt. If you start seeing small rubber particles floating around in your engine bay that's where it'll be coming from. our06t Mmmmm......BOOST Member 3,135 Member For: 18y 6d Gender: Male Location: central coast Posted 17/12/09 12:19 AM Share Posted 17/12/09 12:19 AM So what sort of RWKW increase would someone expect from raising the AFR, boost and givign a better CAI (FG F6 over the standard FG 6T)? What's a safe boost increase that though gives better power, will still keep the car in a nice safe position as to not void warranty?any access at all to the ecu from your tuner will most likely be logged in the ecu so if you have any engine or driveline problems the first thing ford are going to do is see if someone has played with the ecu and they will deny warrenty claims , so if your warranty is a huge issue for you don't get it tuned . Arkayne Member 203 Member For: 16y 4m 2d Gender: Male Posted 17/12/09 05:26 AM Author Share Posted 17/12/09 05:26 AM Not a huge issue in terms of engine wise. I guess my concern is that, say something happens to the car and they had to replace a part udner warranty. Though it has nothign to do with anything under the engine, will they still void warranty because of the ecu modification? The car's only been in my position for 6 months and I already claimed warranty on the driver side's windscreen (not shutting correctly, so air flow was coming in at highway speeds). fehlbie Donating Members 142 Member For: 16y 1m 3d Posted 17/12/09 12:06 PM Share Posted 17/12/09 12:06 PM I have had my car dynoed twice once at about 4000kms 234rwkw's and at 22000kms on the same dyno by the same operator on a 38 degree day at 250 rwkw's.They just make a lot more power than Ford claim. Fords generally understate and Expensive Daewoo just put numbers on the back of there cars for fun.
