hi guys

worst thing happened.. my car broke down 40kms from home last night.. it stalled twice then wouldn't start again no matter what I did..

first inspection has me thinking fuel pump, as there is no prime noise when you flick the ignition..

the pump is a walbro and was only put in a few months ago..

im trying to get onto mick at pit lane but I guess he might be having a long weekend?

couldn't have happned at a worse time. long weekends suck! haha.

anyone heard of these fuel pumps failing early? I think its a walbro gs40?

im driving a VN Late model camira at the moment, so im reeealllly wanting to get back into my T! haha.

thanks guys

I had a smiliar problem after 4 weeks of installing my walbro pump. Hose came off the pump.

Or check relay/fuse

It happened to me back in December 2003, when I had 340rwkw.

I was one of the first (if not the first) to have a Walbro fitted, as I wanted a pump upgrade, and it stopped working within a week of having it fitted.

Simply failed.

Happened as I was leaving the first fordxr6forum xmas event down near Bong Bong.

Over 100km tow home and $200+ tow cost.

There's many guys that use these pumps, and I believe the failure rate is very low.

Other problems arise from incorrect fitment.

ah ok thanks guys.

anyone know if I have to wear the tow costs when the pump is still under warranty? or does the fuel pump company cover it?

Christian, we have seen 1 walbro fail and it was seperated by the supplier and found to have foreign matter in it and was not covered because of this, we have also seen several others that were blamed on the pump and when dismantled found the owner had used normal fuel hose rather than submersible hose and the hose had split.

Suppliers will normally only give you a replacement pump as compensation if the pump has been deemed as warranty.

Give us a call tomorrow and we shall see how we can help you out.
