This thread is going nowhere, really fast. Fast enough to get booked with instant loss of licence probably :w00t2:

Edit: Your signature hardly makes you out to be picture of morality and reason...

Its called a joke champ :)

people need to lighten up, we cant voice an opinion on police on this forum but its acceptable for them to refer to us as you lot and then they wonder were the us and them mentality came from, but on reflection if I had to do that job for that little money I would probably be an unreasonable arsehole as well.

You're right, how dare they judge us based on a select few by generalising that we're all the same.

You know, kind of like what you're doing. Only exactly the same.

I feel like I'm in the scene at the end of Billy Madison where Billy is trying to explain the industrial revolution:

"Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to what you just aid".

:w00t2: I know your going to say youve tried this and it worked or something very similar, but please everybody lets give this one a go.

I.B.

oh my god someone did do it and it worked

"Today he appealed the conviction armed with phone records showing he did not make or receive any calls until at least eight minutes after the alleged offence.

"They had no explanation, no rational explanation," his lawyer Alexander Street SC told Downing Centre District Court.

"It really wasn't a case that should have proceeded."

so people if you didnt make a call appeal it a precedent has been set and you will get off if you werent using the phone to make a call and have the records to back it up. IB has been telling us all we should just man up and accept that glancing at a mobile whilst stopped is going to kill us and we cant fight it but he is wrong... The only suckers are the ones who accept that crap as fact.

What if he was in Adelaide? Then it would be 22 minutes BEFORE the call instead of being 8 minutes after.

Was the clock on the phone cariers server callibrated to a cesium atomic clock, and was this the same time showing on the officers wrist watch or whatever time piece he used.

Barristers are paid to play with peoples minds that's what they do they on the other hand do not let the truth get in there way, good luck to him he tried it it worked. The beauty of a precedent is it can be made null and void by a higher court and it gives the prosecution something to put in there law notes so they can be prepared for it at a later time. :bum:

The detective who came and visited me after an armed robbery was nice, and the one who booked me at gosford once who played with my dogs while we chatted was pretty cool as well so I correct myself and say two.

I dunno, the police keep crying that they are underpaid and go on strike over it so I assume so :) But as I said if I was on that sort of a salary id probably be a little grumpy everyday when I go to work as well. I guess its like anything you sometimes need to find a justification to do your job and keep going and if someone finds that booking people for glancing at a mobile whilst at a complete stop then more power to em I guess.

Some ppl on here need to stop searching for excuses and just cop it sweet. From the my car was better then theirs, to the short on quota day or they just didnt like the look of me. Paranoia and look in the mirror comes to mind.

I.B.

Sorry but while you usually have genuine and informative points to share to say "cop it sweet" is for me a "cop out" These laws were brought in before mobile phones had GPS applications, and all the other technological advancements they have. The law on mobile phones is needed in the aid of preventing accidents and injury, which I completely agree with. However this law needs to be ammended to coincide and be relative with the changes of today's technological market and the applications of that technology.

To say we should just cop it sweet particularly on the subject of being fined for using a mobile as a GPS that is held in it's cradle is for me, as a tax payer, a voter and a citizen of this country completely unacceptable.

It wasnt that long ago (in the grand scheme of things) that people were sent to their death for stealing a loaf of bread. Do we still practice that? No because times change, as does society and the people that live within. And it wasnt that long ago that if you said the term "hoon law" or were told you could have a mobile device that could show you the way to your destination, turn your lights and climate control on and god knows what else, people would have looked at you stupid.

What am I going to do about it? I don't know...give me a petition to sign and I will, ask me to participate in a study on the subject, or write a letter to my Cr and I will. This is not about getting a sympathy vote or giving the police an ear bash it's about being fair and being just, and also having some commonsense.
