Boost Gauge Problem...

Hey guys, I have an 'Auto Gauge' Boost gauge.

I recently installed it and it was working fine - its only about a month old

The gauge then stopped working - continued to show 0

I found that the vacuumm hose had come off in the engine bay (BOV had stopped working also, so finding the problem was easy) I fixed this.

The gauge then stopped working again - this time the reading on the gauge has gone to the minimum (reading maximum vacuumm)

I have pulled apart everything trying to find the problem, the sender unit is hooked up fine the vacuumm hoses in the engine bay are all happy, the BOV is working fine I even pulled off the vacuumm hose with the engine running to check for vacuumm.

I found that the filter for the vacuumm line (for the gauge) seemed to be blocked as I couldn't blow through it, so I removed it and the gauge still does not work.

Keeping in mind that if the sender unit is not plugged in correctly electrically the gauge flashes, the gauge is not flashing. And for the reading to be at maximum vacuumm is weird.

I don't know what to do next, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had the same problem with my Auto Guage for about the last 3 months, have checked wiring and pipes a few times but still sits at the bottom. figured its faulty but I won it in a comp so I can't return it.

So this points to a faulty gauge then...

It's only a month old, may try to get a replacement.

I wonder if it is a regular occurance with this brand of boost gauges...

They are about the cheapest stepper gauge you can buy.

Try taking it back and see if the next one works for longer.

What is the max vac reading on the gauge? If its 20, then that's about right I think.

Yeah if you constantly off throttle... I think it goes to -30 or something for Vacuumm, any who.

Spoke with the supplier and he thinks it is the sender (which makes sense), so he is going to send me another one

-hardcore I'll let ya know if it works because replacing a sender is alot cheaper than replacing the whole gauge etc, you may be able to do the same.

If these gauges are cheap and nasty, then what do you recomend for a good quality gauge Zap?

Also had a look at my gauge today, ~20 in.Hg at idle is what it should read.

mine did this within a day of fitting it, sent it back and got a replacement, I didnt see the filter in the box so didnt use it I think that was the cause, I think that stepper box is very sesitive I recon some crap has gotten thru the filter. my new one has been fine 2 months +
