Just picked this up in the WA chit chat thread - well spotted tinyplums...

Simmons Wheels

End of an era there - anyone with simmons rims on their car - hold on to the buggers cos they are gonna be worth a motza in the not so distant future!

wish I had me some...

A sad day. Definitely a quality product. I have some FR17's on an old Falc........engineeringly superb. May have to run the polishing rag over them more often.

We that's just tragic news. Maybe its my generation, but its an iconic wheel that suited any and every kind of car. If your street machine didn't have a set of simmons then it was just an ordinary car not even worthy of readers rides!. I have been lucky to have had several sets of his wheels and its a shame I wont be able to get anymore. Its big loss to the modifying community!

in the context yes, ordinary is the word. this side of dymag or hre, china spec doesn't quite cut it for me! lot of great wheels out there but for some people their car is not complete without a set.

times have changed. the wheel market is bombarded with big gardy looking china spec which is so wrong and not my thing. growing up on a diet of street machine magazines and watching the gradual evolution from v15's to f90's to fr17's, wow, 17's! and then 18's and then finally 19's....it was a matter of time before we got that fabled 20 but alas never to be.

it must a be simmons guy kind of thing, either you got it or you didn't.

I am glad to say that I managed to be apart (only just) of the craze that was simmons. I get me rear pair next week to complete my set, supposidly the last pair to leave their shop. unfortunately their not going on the fg.

I sent an email to the place they quote for repairs, just to see if there are any wheels left over - you would think they would have a little surplus stock...

awesome, bit of history right there!

fresh on my licence I would dream of the day I could ditch my stock 15" snowflakes for some gold v5's with dish. 15x8's on the front and 15x9's on the rear (you couldn't go too much because the cops back in those days here in perth had a sad if your wheel measured more than 7").

had them all priced and everything, but a pimple faced teenager back in the early 90's stood no chance of getting together what then seemed like a small fortune, 1200$ with tyres as a matter of fact :spoton:

they stopped taking orders in april, I sent mine in bout 3 weeks ago when I heard they were closing shop. wouldnt have even considered making them for me if I hadnt already ordered the front pair. and even then Mr Simmons was on the hunt for centers they had left as they stopped production completely.
