Removing Steering Wheel Controls

Hey guys.

Brother has a bfmk2 xl ute and he has just broken his wiper control arm on the steering wheel. He has purchased a new assembly to replace it. Does anyone know how to remove the steering wheel/airbag. The locking nut seems to sit behind the air bag but am unsure how to remove the airbag without it blowing up . If anyone could give me any advice on this it would be greatly appreciated. Also, is there a way to replace just the wiper arm instead of replacing the whole assembly (this assembly includes all wiring harnesses and indicator/headlight control arm)

I dont think you need to remove the steering wheel to replace the wiper control arm.
