Guest newl Guests Posted 08/05/09 03:06 AM Share Posted 08/05/09 03:06 AM Same here. I used to average just under 80km a day for work so I babied them for a week and then started giving them a what for and all has been good since. After installing new disc rotors &/or brake pads, perform 8 to 10 slow downs applying moderate pressure from approximately 50 – 60 kph without coming to a stop.2. Make an additional 2 to 3 slow downs applying heavy pressure from approximately 60 - 70 kph without coming to a stop.3. DO NOT DRAG BRAKES!4. Check that the discs have an even surface appearance (they should be a consistent blue tinge)4. Allow at least 15 minutes for brake system to cool down. After step 4 your new disc rotors &/or pads are ready for normal use. Be aware that the full bedding in process can take up to 300 – 500 kms depending on driving style. During this period try and avoid any high speed hard braking to a dead stop. This process essentially 'pairs' the pad to the disc and allows a good heat soak for both the pads and discs. If you need any more info, just ask.All the best.DBA Stevedbasteve(at)dba.com.au Link to comment https://www.fordxr6turbo.com/forum/topic/57458-dba4000-run-in-time/#findComment-910734 Share on other sites

My brakes start to slow the car down after about 1cm travel on the brake pedal. 4-5cm pedal travel sounds unusual to me before your car starts to slow down. In my opinion, I'd have it checked out independently by a different brake specialist or a brake specialist if you put them on yourself.I read in another thread about needing to do something with a brake compressor to squeeze the piston back in here.
