Sway Bars

I have the white line sway bars front and back in my car and over some bumps and coming out of my drive way the seem to move and knock on something under the car.

Is this common?

Is there some way to stop them moving?

check all the nuts on the drop links are tight , I had one that attaches the front bar come loose and it made a lot of noise .

who fitted them it's very hard to do but I have seen a front one put on upside down and the lower control arm bashed on the bar every time it went over a bump

I just noticed I put this in the wrong section....

Any way all is tight, they don't knock all the time, just when turning at slow speeds when one wheel is higher than the other I.E. my drive way. They may knock at higher speeds but I have not noticed.

I had the same problem with my Whiteline bars, they would always loosen up.

I was told the best way to fix them is to get the pillow ball mountings for them bars.

It removed the crappy mount and replaces it with a race quality rosejoint.

P.S I also moved this to the correct section.

are you sure they are in the right way up? I think the front 1 will go in both ways, but there is a correct way for it so it clears the engine.

I dont think you can get the rear one in the wrong way.

Yeah all is on correct, it just like it slips across. I thought there might have been something to lock them into place a little better. They have been on the car for 3 months and have only started to move over the last month. I checked them yesterday and every thing was tight. Its not like they are moving and knocking constantly, just every now and then.

I had the same issue with a horrible knocking sound coming from the front end. Finally found out what it was yesterday after taking out all the suspension and bars I found that 2 bolts had fallen out that hold in the surge tank and whenever the sway bar moved it would make the tank hit on the chassie. I have to take the tank out and put some bigger spacers and new bolts in then that should hopefully fix the problem.

whiteline have a part that you put either side of the ubolts that support the swaybar. this will clamp to the swaybar stopping it from being able to slide from side to side. from memory it is not expensive, but really it should come with the swaybars as it it a pretty common issue. fortunately very easy to fix. check out the whiteline website, they look like urethane rings maybe 10mm wide.. if not call whiteline themselves as they'll know what you're talking about

I hope this helps
